Nicola studied German, French, European and international law in Munich, Paris and Turin. She completed her postgraduate legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Munich, with stations in criminal defence and international Criminal Law, among others.
Nicola Bier completed the integrated degree programme in German-French law between the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the Université Paris 2, where she obtained a Maîtrise en droit (mention: droit international). After her first state examination, she specialised in international criminal law and international aspects of criminal law as part of the LL.M. in Transnational Crime and Justice at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) in Turin. Subsequently, she worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Criminal Law and Criminology of Prof. Dr. Ralf Kölbel (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität) during her postgraduate legal traineeship.
From November 2020 to September 2021, she was a lawyer at the renowned law firm Knierim & Kollegen in Mainz, which specialises in commercial and criminal tax law, where she worked together with Anna Oehmichen on many cross-border mandates, including international mutual legal assistance matters, such as the defence against a European Arrest Warrant or a Red Notice from Interpol, as well as on international criminal law cases.
She joined Oehmichen International in October 2021. Her focus is on international matters and human rights aspects of defence.
